Be Here Now Yoga 0wner, Teacher and Yoga Therapist
Karen Walsh found yoga (or maybe yoga found her) in 2010. Karen was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1995 and was looking for complementary therapies to help manage symptoms, and yoga became her gateway drug to better health. Through the mindful practice of Yoga, Karen has improved her overall sense of self and well-being.
Karen completed her RYT-200 training in March 2013 and RYT-500 in 2015. She is qualified to teach and train potential yoga teachers. In 2023, Karen completed an 875-hour Yoga Therapy Training at Breathing Deeply Yoga under the instruction and guidance of Brandt Passalacqua. She enjoys designing private practices for students with different challenges. From her own
experience, Karen has learned that people with rounder bodies can realize the benefits of yoga.
Karen is a passionate learner and attends and teaches yoga Alliance-recognized continuing education classes, workshops, and training. Karen is certified in Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga™, Restorative Yoga, Yoga for Cancer Care, and has studied with Larry Payne for her Prime of Life Yoga™ Certification. She has studied Anatomy with Leslie Kaminoff and Breathing for Life with Richard Miller.
Karen lives in Flemington with her partner Richard Hotchkiss, the “cello” of Restorative Yoga with Live Cello, her son Jake, her dog Rosie, and four cats. Abby, her daughter, is an RYT-500 and teaches yoga in Santa Cruz, California. Whatever the season, you will find Karen in the vegetable garden.
